@pettter @hntooter people completely ignore what problem blockchain was created to solve - creating a decentralized source of authority about which account owns what. It's basically a decentralized database.

Right now, in most contexts, blockchain is a solution in search of a problem.

When I see blockchain used in a centralized context (Burger King in Russia, land records in Georgia, banks, etc), I am facing my palm.

@rysiek @pettter @hntooter The problem you described (creating a binding chain of transactions in a decentralized manner) isn’t solved by blockchain, but by proof of work algorithm (and by proof of stake). Blockchain (an immutable chain of transactions) can be used in centralized environments (take Git, medical records in Estonia and probably the examples you gave).
